Coordinating this wind turbine transport as quickly as possible to a wind generator in maintenance.
Origin and destination
It was a domestic project in Nicaragua, running a 129 km (80.2 miles) route to the Eolo wind farm.
Weight and dimensions
45m long x 4.22m wide x 3m high, with 37 Ton and distributed in a set of three special units.

The challenge
The operation was similar to a Time Critical Cargo movement, as it was urgent to replace the damaged giant blades, to ensure that the affected wind turbines could quickly produce clean energy again. Likewise, the entire plan was highly time-sensitive due to the high cost of the wind bladed and the specialized cranes needed.

Designing a special route was a key part of the wind blades transportation’s success. In a highly complex logistical operation to transport 45-meter-long blades through Nicaragua’s intricate routes, the highest level of expertise to move oversized cargo is required.
Every detail was carefully considered: avoiding city crossings, analyzing turning radii and heights, adding escorts, and all necessary road permits were obtained to ensure the success of the operation.
Sometimes, choosing the shortest route is not the best option. In our case, driving 378 km instead of 246 km turned out to be the best decision.
In addition, we managed to gather all the highly specialized machinery in time to carry out an operation that involved complex tandem lifting maneuvers, since few units like these are available worldwide.
These maneuvers were successfully executed at origin and destination, with two cranes in synchrony lifting the wind turbine blades to place them on an extendable transport platform.
